In Bombella Bass we stand that the wood selection for your instrument is a critical component in order to achieve a great sounding instrument, a good high quality wood will provide a great dynamic and articulations that your seeking for regardless what electronics wen put on them.

Heres some descriptions of tone woods and their sonic properties, this will help you to decide more accurate what is the best match best for you

Alder

Alder, part of the birch family, is a softer hardwood from the Pacific Northwes.

Alder Is the classic bass tone wood, it's a full,warm tone with good low end and balance mid and highs frequencies.

Ash
Ash

Ash is a long-fibered, light-colored, medium-density wood that grows in the United States and Canada.

Ash has s brighter tone compare to alder with a slightly scooped midrange and high more pronounced while still supports good the low end frequencies  

Maple

Male is a very light-colored medium-to-hard wood, abundant in the eastern United States.

Maple has a full, edgy  and very focused sound, with a good bite and attack, but is not brittle like other hard woods 

Mahogany

A tropical medium-to-hard wood indigenous to South America, Central America, and Africa

Is a fat, full sound, mahogany is really warm wood with a rich lower midrange

 All bodies are made from 2 piece blanks. (Except Neck-Thru Body Models)

Top Woods

 We have a variety of top woods available for the Bombella Bass Custom models, mostly the top wood don have a  big affect on the main tone wood of the instrument, but generally speaking, hard dense woods like: Zircote, Cocobolo among other ones, will affect the tone by adding a little more high end to the instrument.

AA Curly Maple and Walnut are standard top woods in all Bombella Basses.

Woods with higher graded figured like AAA, Flame Maple and, AAA Quilted Maple and exotic woods like: Cocobolo, Zircote, Bubinga, Buckeye, Mitre, Spalted Maple, Yellow Heart, among others are available for our

Bombella Bass Custom

 The Finest and most stoning woods like: AAAA and AAAAA Flame Maple, and AAAA and AAAAA Quilted Maple, along with Walnut Crotch and Buckeye Burl are selected for our Bombella Bass Custom limited series.
